The General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) came into effect 25th May 2018. These regulations replace the Data Protection Act 1998, superseding the laws developed in compliance with the Data Protection Directive 95/46/EC.
Our Data Protection Officer is Mrs K Reed. She can be contacted for information about Data Protection or Freedom of Information matters on 01405 860417 or by email at dpo@cowick.eriding.net. Any queries regarding the use of personal information in school should also be directed to the school's Data Protection Officer through the School Office.

Statement regarding the processing of biometric data
At Cowick CE Primary School we do not store or process any form of biometric data, such as fingerprints or retina scans.
The Governing Board and Data Protection Officer (DPO) will review this statement at least annually and the next scheduled review date for this statement is October 2024.
If our school does decide to store or process biometric data, a policy will be implemented for the processing of such data, which would be made available on the school website. Any changes made to the school’s position on the processing of biometric data will be clearly communicated to all staff, parents and pupils.
