Vision

At Cowick CE Primary School our vision is to give children a Science curriculum which enriches children’s natural curiosity.

The opportunities through our curriculum enables them to explore, discover and appreciate the world and universe that we live in, confidently, so that they have a deeper scientific understanding.

To achieve this, Science at Cowick involves exciting, thought provoking and practical hands on experiences that encourage questioning and discovery.

Our aim is that these stimulating and challenging experiences help children secure and extend their scientific knowledge and vocabulary so that they are life-long learners.

Pupil Views

'We have learned about the digestive system this year. We learned how food travels through your mouth to your oesophagus, then into your stomach. Your stomach acid is released into the large intestine and then the small intestine and it comes out of your body as stools. It was fascinating'. Y6 pupil, July 2021.

'I enjoyed working with CCI because instead of just a regular school day, it was working with companies that work with science in the real world. It was really engaging because we knew that some of the work would contribute to later discoveries. We mostly worked with Croda but also with CCI through the York University.' Y6 pupil, July 2021.
