Water Class
Water Class are the Year 3 and 4 class at Cowick. Our teacher is Miss Montgomery. We all strive to follow our Hive Five school rules so that we can have a hardworking classroom that we all enjoy working in.
Water Class 2022-2023
At Cowick we like to make our Curriculum fun and inspiring for the children. We use a theme to link in most of our lessons. Autumn Term our topic will be 'Narnia’. We shall be reading the book 'The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe' by C.S Lewis. We shall also be making connections to the book through our historical study of World War II.
Homework
In Water Class the children will be expected to complete work at home, which will aid them in their learning. Each week, children will be expected to read regularly (4X per week if possible or more!) they will also be sent home spellings each week.
Spellings
Children in Water Class will be learning two sets of spellings each week. One of the sets will be from the children's year groups expected spelling list and another list we shall focus on in school, which will follow different spelling rules and patterns. The children will be tested each Monday in a traditional spelling test and the marked tests and a list of new spellings will be issued on Tuesdays. The children have the opportunity to earn themselves tokens for successfully learning these.

Reading
Children are also expected to read regularly at home. The children will receive a pack of books from school on a weekly basis. We ask you to listen to your child read on a regular basis. We shall collect the pack of books in on a Monday to change them and they shall be returned home on a Tuesday. I would like to promote the love of reading to the children so please encourage children to read books, magazines, online articles or even comics that they love as this will help to broaden their reading skills in school to develop their love for reading.
Times Tables
During the summer term of Year 4 the children will complete a multiplication tables test set by the Standards and Testing Agency. Children are expected to know their times tables up to 12 X 12. At Cowick our children have access to Times Table Rockstars and IXL as online learning platforms that will help the children learn and practice their tables. PE
During the Autumn term Water Class PE days will be Wednesday and Friday. On Wednesday they will be doing PE with our school PE coach Mr Gelder and on Friday the children will have a PE session with Miss Montgomery.
