The Cowick team have been working hard to make sure school is safe when we re-open to children from Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. It may look a little different to how you remember.

We look forward to seeing you!

Stay safe.

New hobby?

Katherine Rawes (head) on: Mrs Rawes

What have you been up to in lock-down? I have decided to try and teach myself to play the piano. I have found a great little APP called 'Simply Piano'. I try to practice for 30 minutes each day and it is a fab way to unwind and chill out. Have any of you taken up a new hobby?

Year 6 Residential

Katherine Rawes (head) on: Mrs Rawes

Today, we would have been setting off with year 6 on our residential to Kingswood. Although it has been postponed until the end of June, we still aren't certain whether it will definitely go ahead. I am sure the Y6 children are as disappointed as Mrs Tuxworth and me as we were really looking forward to seeing the children working together in teams to solve problems. I know that some children have been planning on having their own 'mini' residential at home with their families. Why not consider doing some COLA (creative outdoor learning activities)?

I shall be camping with my boys in the garden in our tent this weekend, and we are planning on learning some bush craft and knot skills as well as completing a treasure hunt. Perhaps you might have a go at doing some of our Cowick 75 Creatives? Whatever you do, let us know....drop me a comment below! If you have any pictures of your outdoor activities, send them into cowickprimary@gmail.com with 'COLA' in the subject line.

Remember, stay safe! If you do take part in bush craft (whittling, den building, etc.)  make sure you have adult supervision.

Have fun everyone!

Card Games and Board Games - do you have a favourite?

Katherine Rawes (head) on: Mrs Rawes

Over the past few weeks since 'lockdown' I have been playing lots of board games with my family. A firm favourite of ours is Cluedo. My boys are now 8 and 10 and really into Harry Potter, so we enjoy playing 'Harry Potter Cluedo'. We love the problem solving element to Cluedo and the Harry Potter version has lots of little extras such as 'floo powder' to get into different places, 'dark mark' cards which costs you 'floo powder' unless you have the correct 'help card'.

We also enjoy playing 'Frustration' which always frustrates at least one of us - usually me as I almost always lose!

Another favourite game of ours is the card game 'Uno'. This is a great strategy game with a bit of chance mixed in.

For those of you with good observation skills, I would highly recommend Dobble. I am the Dobble champion in our house. Almost undefeated! :-)

Do you have a favourite board game? If so, what is it and why is it your favourite?
