If your child is going to be absent from school because of sickness that morning, school needs to be informed before 9.00a.m. The office is open from 8.30a.m. If you phone before 8.30a.m. you can leave a message on the school’s answer machine.
When your child returns to school, following an absence, a note must be brought into school explaining the reason for the absence as we are legally required to keep these on file.
If your child complains of feeling unwell or is taken ill during the school day we do not have the facilities to offer sickness care. Therefore, parents will be asked to collect their child from school and will be contacted in the order in which they appear on the Emergency Contact Numbers.
If your child is going home with someone different from normal, please inform the school in writing – this can be done in the children’s homework journals. We appreciate that sometimes circumstances occur when you cannot let us know in advance that someone else will be picking up your child. In these cases a phone call is sufficient.
The Head Teacher has the authority to grant up to 10 days authorised absence, in any one school year, for annual holiday with parents. As any sustained absence from school can lead to a disruption in a child’s learning, such holidays need to be kept to a minimum. Any time taken beyond 10 days will have to be recorded as an ‘Unauthorised Absence’.
